What is Reimagining Our Westmoreland?

Reimagining Our Westmoreland is the comprehensive plan adopted by Westmoreland County in December 2018.  It outlines the objectives and strategies to achieve the goal of attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse and stable workforce that will sustain a healthy economy.   

Planning Districts Concept

Westmoreland County is a large and diverse place of over 1,000 square miles and 65 unique municipalities.  The Planning Districts concept is based on the idea that logical groupings exist based on geography, culture, economics, education, and transportation.  Since local government serves a vital role in forging our shared future, the Planning Districts concept has emerged as a way to support and empower municipalities to achieve the goals of the plan in ways that work for their communities. ​ Local officials will bring the concept to life.

Power of Partnerships

What does the Planning Districts concept in action look like in Westmoreland County?  The journey to the answer to this question is one we will embark upon together.  Some strategies will work well in some areas; others will make more sense in others.  It's a shared responsibility and challenge to come up with a gameplan to work together that makes sense and brings about results, for us.  Let's get started!  ​
